Gloria rejoins her family!
Fourteen year old Gloria is living with her biological family again! She had left her maternal aunt's house because of mistreatment, and was fortunate to have had local social services workers of the Congolese government, with whom we partner, transfer dGloria to Kimbilio. She's been at our transit house for girls for the past 6 months while our team performed the consuming work of seeking out and building a relationship with her family. Success! #streetchildren #reintegra

Former Street Child Attends University
Pascal came to Kimbilio as an orphan when he was 8 years old. With his parents gone, he had ended up on the streets for two years after his aunts would no longer keep him at home. Kimbilio and Pascal have truly grown up together! Now we pay for his studies at the University of Lubumbashi. He is pursuing his Bac 2 and we are happy to share that he has landed a terrific internship at Lubumbashi Airport. When we started in 2009, we could only dream of the day we'd send our

Teen Girl Reunited with her Biological Family
Vicky, the oldest of seven children, is 14 years old. Her father is not alive and her mother and the children have been living in extreme poverty. None of the children have been able to attend school. Vicky reached the point where challenges at home were such that she turned to life on the street. After a long time residing at Kimbilio, our reintegration team just succeeded in returning Vicky to her birth family. In the fall, Kimbilio will cover her tuition to attend ou

Two Street Teens Reunited with their Families
Reunited! There were scenes of great joy as Clement Beya, Kimbilio manager, accompanied two teenagers on a flight of over 1000 kilometres from Lubumbashi to their homes near Mwene-Ditu in Kasai Province. These two young people have been with Kimbilio for three years, having left their families in search of a better life - travelling down to Lubumbashi on the backs of lorries. International Women's Day
In celebration of International Women’s Day 2024, Kimbilio’s girls (former street children) and women team members enjoyed a rare trip to a pizza restaurant in Lubumbashi city centre. Many of these girls will never have eaten in a restaurant before making it a very special treat. We hope that it demonstrated to them how much they are valued and respected, something else that they have not experienced before. Often one of the drivers for children ending up on the streets is do
