This week, Kimbilio celebrated the graduation of four more women from one of our two sewing schools. Photos are from the graduation ceremony, at which diplomas were awarded and each of the women received a manual sewing machine and supplies to enable her to start up her own sewing business. Check out their skills in the beautiful dresses they're wearing!
One of the new graduates, Joelle, very much exemplifies the unending commitment of Kimbilio to their clients. Back in 2019, at the age of 16, Joelle found herself living on the streets, having been rejected by her family. Kimbilio took her in that same year, and she lived in Kimbilio's transit house for girls. The reintegration work with her biological family by Kimbilio took place over two years, at which point the reintegration team deemed it appropriate for Joelle to move home. That was in 2021. The reintegration team has continued periodic follow-up, and decided this year that including Joelle in the sewing course would benefit Joelle and her entire family. Now, at the age of 21, she is among our latest graduates - equipped to earn a living at sewing. Photos from Joelle's big day are below.
In the words of the happy graduates, "merci beaucoup Kimbilio."
