Safety at the Kimbilio Mapendo School has been greatly enhanced by the now complete security wall and guard house, thanks to the generosity of our partner, global metals and minerals merchant IXM, as well as the great work of the Kimbilio construction team.
Earlier this year, we launched the project to build a security wall around the perimeter of the Kimbilio Mapendo School. If you're first coming up to speed on this undertaking, there are two previous blog posts of interest. In Building from Scratch, we describe how Kimbilio manufacturers their own bricks. In Keeping our Children Safe back in February 2025, we talked about the need for the security wall and showed you the early start of the build of the foundation.
We're pleased to say, the wall is done! Foremost, the school children are safer. And the icing on the cake: the wall is impressive!
The fence contains an estimated 30,000 bricks - a stack of this many bricks would be more than a mile high!
The fence encloses the one-half hectare of the school property.
The school property is even more beautiful with the wall - it's got such a finished, stately look. See for yourself!
We hope you'll enjoy this slide show of the photos of the completed project.
