DR Congo is a vast country in Central Africa it has had a turbulent history and in recent years has seen fighting in the North East which has devastated communities and families.  In 2006 it held its first democratic elections, peace is slowly returning to the country.  One of the outcomes of the prolonged period of turmoil has been increased poverty and with it increasing numbers of children living on the streets as their families for so many reasons are unable to continue to care for them.
