Background

The vision for the Congo Children Trust has emerged and evolved at a pivotal point in the history of the Congo as she moves away from the turmoil of the 1990’s and has held her first democratic election in four decades.

The initial idea behind the project developed during Ian Harvey’s visit to Congo as volunteer election observer in 2006 as he observed the needs of the street children.
( See his report )

The aims and ethos of the charity have gradually formed following further conversations with Congolese friends, relatives and friends in Congo and the UK, representatives of the Anglican Church in Congo.

This has resulted in a group of trustees coming together in 2007 to form the Congo Children Trust.
